Greetings all...
There may be spoilers, but I will warn you before we get to the spoilers.
First up: more talk than action. I have it in my Netflix queue. Oh yeah, I am talking about 'Pirates of Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'. Again, it is a talking head movie.
Second up: theater report: there were kids and teenagers in pirate costumes. The theater filled up pretty quick and that was the first show of the day. I finally saw a manager or a high ranking employee come out and work the seats (directed some remaining patrons to empty seats) and check the theater.
After the movie, ack...ack...lots of trash on the floors. Heck, I take my trash to the nearest garbage cans! So I had to walk around trash. I have no idea if the kids and teenagers liked the movie or not. Maybe, maybe not. There was a little kid sitting next to me and I think the poor child was bored out of his/her head or was naturally twitchy. So I cannot be sure, but I think Aron may be able to talk to a couple of kids...
Third up: I think it is time for spoilers... Oh yeah, no Captain Mutiny...

The movie had rather interesting special effects. Nice skeletons and bones. In this case, the full moon revealed dead pirates to be a bunch of skeletons. The CG animation really moved along with revelations and changes. I think this time, CG sfx were flawless and beautiful, even believable.
The captain had a monkey, a dead monkey of course, that seemed smarter than it looked. That or really well trained. The captain was suitably creepy and sleazy and greedy. The captain had an idea that blood of a certain person would make him and his crew mortals once more, so they chased a wrong person. The right person was Orlando Bloom, just back from his trip to the Middle Earth.
Johnny Depp was animated and fairly entertaining. He even looked like a proper pirate, all dark and swarthy with all that hair and twitchy mannerisms. He even was polite, politely greedy and a tad bit cowardly (not at the end where he took on the dead captain).
That woman the deadites were chasing, I believe her last name may have been Friendly. I could be wrong... In any case, she was fiesty and willing to go nose to nose with the deadites. Pretty good scenes with her and Orlando.
And then we have a terminally stuffy and proper Johnathan Bryce. Very good stuffed shirt and wonderful cowardance. Really, Bryce's character was such a simpering coward.
I guess we can save this for the new forum, I think.
