Selected 'baby' Aliens are fed a 'royal jelly' that is ridiculously enriched with alien-queen DNA, etc.
I read every book in the "Aliens-Earthhive Chronicles" and this is how the book said that Queens were formed. the book actually went into detail of a pretty kickass fight between an older queen and her young usurper.
then, humans discover that if you eat the royal jelly, it causes a drugged effect similar to (ecstasy+cocaine) * 10. So the humans travel out to Queen Alien World and all hell breaks loose.
