it does!
<shudder>
Here's a little horror story of my own, it's not quite as good, but I can GUARANTEE it's truth:
It's the end of january, Feb sweeps (where stations set ad rates, it's a big deal) is just around the corner. PLUS the station had the olympics that year.
I had just joined the promotion department in a small station in SW FL. My boss says to me "hey MEB, Im gonna be gone for a few days next week, just make sure you check the logs, ok?". All was well and dandy as the week passes by.
So now it's friday, and I'm getting a little nervous, no phone call from bossman, and I haven't seen him at all. So I casually stroll into the News Director's office. "Hey ND, when's my boss coming back?>"
The news director looks at me strangely and says: "Your boss is having a kidney transplant, he'll be gone for a month".
so I was left alone, with no plans, on my first experience in TV to figure out how to promote the station in an important book, during the biggest event of that year.
All I can say is, I faked it rather well <G>
