Um.......Mr Cranky tends to be a bit harsh. Maybe you ought to read some other reviews. He was actually very kind with his razor wit as far as this went.

Drunken Monk Fighting is a true dedicated practice among some lines of eastern philosophy. It encourages very strict isolationist practices in harmony and "out of ones self" defensive actions when that harmony or community is threatened. Yes Jackie took a lot from the old legend but he hardly did a realistic approach. His approach was stretched just as much as any other entertainment medium has stretched the warrior monk skills in the western world from the shao lin warriors and beyond ( aka much anmie, mortal kombat, SF ). I dare say Jackie Chan is as much aware of the "reality" of such practices and the abilities to take liberties with misconceptions about it. If he hadn't the movie would have had no entertainment value.
