I haven't watched the cartoon in so many years that I've forgotten most of the plot, to tell you the truth. You seem to be saying that it's a hurrendous ADAPTATION (which is an issue I've hammered about before and don't want to get into right now-- especially not over "Inspector Gadget," for God's sake!) I was just thinking it COULD possibly be "goofy fun," completely on its own merits. I seriously doubt it, but the trailer I saw didn't really seem to make it look good or bad. If it's bad as "Godzilla," then I won't really be eating me words, 'cause I didn't say it was going to be good. I generally try not to judge a movie based on one trailer anyway. In any case, Broderick does NOT look like Inspector Gadget (because I do remember what he looks like-- it hasn't been THAT long), and I may have trouble taking the movie "seriously" for that reason alone. Who the hell was in charge of casting, anyway? Surely it must have been done before "Godzilla..."
