Obviously you don't know a good movie when you see it. Roberto's face gestures weren't meant to amuse YOU, they were meant to keep his son's attitude positive in a very horrible situation. I don't care if you don't like Benigni as an actor, but you have to give him credit for that wonderful masterpiece he made. Though it didn't depict the entire truth of the Hollocaust, it did tell a magnificent story. He brought laughter to a very serious subject. My advice to you is to see the movie again, and this time focus on the artistic viewpoint and interpretation of the movie as a whole. don't hate the movie because you don't like Roberto. Hate it because the story doesn't move you at all emotionally.
