I mean, it's not terribly uncommon for an Oscar Best Picture nominee (and should have been winner for Best Actress) to get a sequel, but that's usually the territory of action or high caliber drama nominees/winners ("Rocky," "Star Wars," "Godfather," etc.) -- but extremely traditional period pieces? I was rather taken aback when I saw the preview for "The Golden Age" on a movie -- in fact, for at least 2 minutes I thought it was the re- release of the original "Elizabeth."
I guess the important thing is, Kapur got the two main actors back. "Elizabeth" was one of the first movies I got into debates about on Cranky's board, back in the Wild Wild 1998s.
