I didn't say all movies are bad. Movies right now are poorly made. Fargo was the only classic film made in the past three years, (along with Dead Man) (I'm including 96 as one of those years). I haven't seen anything near that caliber of film making since Exotica. I just hold the opinion that films (and music, but that's another discussion)made in the past couple of years have sucked on the whole. And I'm not just a complainer, I'm a student who is an artist and I'm trying to find something stimulating in times when Tarantino and Rodriguez are considered excellent auteurs. Maybe with Lynch's Lost Highway coming out I can finally go to the theater and enjoy myself.

P.S. And I realize there have been some gems in the past two years such as- Crumb and finally some recognition for Bunuel and the rerelease of his strong but not definitive Belle De Jour. But this does not mean that film making on the whole has been positive for art.
