You used the wrong phrase for me when you said "questions the basic truths" and intended it as criticism.
"Basic truths" should always be questioned. To question does not mean you're going to throw it out. If after questioning a "basic truth" you decide that it really is an immortal truth, you keep it. It will only mean that much more because it holds up to scrutiny. Thank God there are people in the world who "question the basic truths."
