I enjoy "The Simpsons", "South Park", "24", "House", "Scrubs", "My Name Is Earl", "The Office", and most late-night comedy shows (except for, say, Craig Ferguson, "MadTv", and most of what is on "Mind of Mencia"). Of brand new series, "30 Rock" seems decent so far, and "Ugly Betty" is an okay chick-com. I may catch a stray episode of "Inside the Actor's Studio" every so often. But, to tell the truth, I watch very few of these shows on a regular basis, since I'm either busy with something else, or disoriented by frequent schedule changes, or am watching movies instead. Is "Arrested Development" already officially cancelled?
Of the rest:
-Fuck ALL 'reality' TV shows, without exception.
-"Family Guy" is occasionally funny, but often feels tired, forced, or rather repulsive in a non-humorous way.
-"Ghost Whisperer": Jennifer Love Hewitt's acting is pretty bad, but the show can get an occasional interesting plot line.
-"Medium" would work better is it was shorter. Too much filler drama goes on.
-"Grey's Anatomy": boring, 'hip' version of "General Hospital".
-"C.S.I.": some interesting tidbits, but there's something too artificial about the series to engage me.
-"Law and Order": booooooooooring.
-"Studio 60 from the Sunset Strip" or whatever its called: ugh! It takes the worst aspects of "The West Wing" and crams them into a very lame serious pseudo-parody of "SNL".
-"Lost": I can't get into it. Every so often I watch an interesting episode, but then I get some episode that feels like those mytharc episodes of "The X-Files": slow, boringly mysterious, going in circles, and producing more of a headache. I haven't really followed it and now miss out on many of the references.
-"Till Death": somebody grant it its wish, please. Who is this show intended for, white trash? "The King of Queens" audience?
-I can't stand any of the annoying Televisa-made Mexican TV shows on Univision.
-I don't follow any Sci-Fi original shows, as most feel too slow and self-referential, talky in a boring way, and I forget what days they are on (or they are on in inconviniently scheduled slots).
-"Prison Break": I've only watched a few minutes of it. Seems potentially interesting, but I have not had a chance to really watch it.
-"The Sopranos": I fail to see what is so great about it. I've tried, I've really tried, but the actions and dialogue of the gangsters in display just does not grab my attention. I can't find myself caring for any of the characters either.
-"Jericho": interesting premise done in a very, very, very bland and boring way, with characters that only exist in TV land and are far from interesting.
-I have yet to see "Entourage". I'll rent a DVD when I get the chance.
-Whatever animated show comes on after "South Park": see my "Family Guy" entry.
I have not gathered enough interest to check any other cop, lawyer, or doctor show. They all seem the same to me, and are equally boring. Besides, I work at a mental health facility, so I don't need the vicarious experience that other people get out of these shows.
