"Dexter": I think it's the best show to premier this season so far. The premise is so stupid, that I begin to cringe while I'm explaining it to people: "A Serial Killer Who Hunts Serial Killers", I mean how much more unoriginal can you get than that. Yet, the setting is cool, the characters are developing rather quickly, and the mystery is engaging. I think we are seeing the true heir to the "Lost" formula here (Yes, this show features flashbacks too, but I could see them becoming less frequent as the show moves on). Gets my highest geeky recomendation for checking out a show. Although I have to warn you Showtime has a way of cancelling shows after their second seasons...
"Lost": I've been watching this show just as long as everybody else, and I'll stick with it until its ineveitable network cancellation. For a show like this to work the creators have to keep the show just popular enough to be satisfying the network suits, but not popular enough for mainstream media attention. A show like "Lost" works best as a cult show because when the creators of a show like this start getting celebrity attention and demands for answers for long running mysteries every week, they stop making an interesting product and the network starts having a bigger hand in deciding where the plot is going (or in the case of "Lost", g-o-i-n-g v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y). I think the people in charge of the show need to do something drastic like just kill off half the cast unexpectdly. Eveyone seems to be too comfortable on that show, and the tension is what got me into it in the first place.
"Battlestar Galactica": They get it right every episode. I imagine this show is going to have an awesome series finale one day. Expert cast, writers, fx, etc. I love it.
"Heroes": Another show which seems to have the pacing problems I've seen people complain about on this board and others. I kind of hate all the melodrama on the show, but then I geek out for all the powers. I don't know could be hit or miss, but I'll at least stick ith it though out the first season.
"Studio 60": I disliked this show from the pilot, the one that all the critics were raving about, but I kept watching the show. Now that everybody admits they hate this show, I actually like it. I thought it was going to be a 'hate on SNL' kind of thing, but it's more of a 'hate on the Christian Right kind of thing'. I haven't seen any of Sorkin's other work, and I don't intend to, but anybody who can make me not despise matthew perry as an actor anymore is alright in my book. You hear that matthew perry, I finally forgive you for "Friends", but we still have that whole "film career" to forget about.
"Family Guy": If a'int broke don't fix it. If a show gets cancelled don't air it again. Or at least get the original writers that made the show funny. And yes I do like Futurama.
"Simpsons": $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
"Adult Swim": More power to them. I love 12 O.Z. Mouse. I'm starting to get into Metalocalypse (I liked the blues episode) And they have made some new classics like Sealab and ATHF. Frisky Dingo, I dunno.
"The Office": I think it's going to get better now that there will only be one office again. I just want to get back to the flirting and akward humor. Maybe Season 2 was too good, because they seem to be losing steam. I hope they go all out with Michael in the next episodes.
Anyone here still watch SNL? I liked the cast changes they made for this season, but I think the writing has so far been sub-par this season, with very few actually funny bits.
