- If Ben is Alex's father, does that mean he was part of the expedition which brought Danielle Rousseau to the island?

Ben is her "father," Rousseau killed her boyfriend and everyone else on her ship after they got "sick" (she is a bit nutty.)

- Were the guys that "recruited" Juliette part of the Dharma Institute?

DHARMA might have gone out of business a while ago (the films are dated 1980!) This could be the sucessor to DHARMA, run by the Hanso Foundation (if you played the online game last summer you got to learn about Hanso.)

- There's a main island and an "Others" island - are there more?

Considering they've sailed around most of the island (except any parts where the second island would be visible my guess is no.)

- Was the whole "escape" engineered to get Alex's boyfriend over to the island with the rest of the group?

Karl might just be going because Ben would just put Karl back into that "Clockwork Orange" brainwashing room, Alex really can't go over because Danielle is there.

- Did Michael and Walt ever reach civilization?

Michael and Walt weren't even mentioned in the "Survivors Guide" (along with the tailies, and people who've died) so Ben either showed him the way to the "exit door" or the Others' Sub sank them for good (yes they do have a Submarine (!) it was mentioned in the episode after Sun shot the girl on the boat.) The "Others' Island" houses 'The Hydra' a DHARMA station used for oceanic research, so a sub (not sure if it's armed) would be useful for that.
