So Des pulled a Hiro when he turned key, only he time travelled back into himself (no dopplegangers.) Facinating that they still worked in the island anyway, and a busking Charlie!
Universe needs course correcting, death finds a way the next day stuff... a bit too much like the "Final Destination" movies... but I thought it would be Claire and not Charlie until you realize that:
1. Charlie always saves Claire (except when the hatch door almost landed on her, that was Bernard, Charlie was running from the Hatch.) 2. Charlie was dead until Jack revived him (part of Jack's problem with "letting things go.") 3. Charlie killed Ethan in cold blood (bad Karma.) 4. Charlie really had no future when he got on that plane, in fact I posit that he could've OD'd in the bathroom if the plane didn't crash anyway. (Brother told him and the idea of reforming the band off, he was already homeless in Des's time travel sequence (about 5 years pre-island.) 5. Merry nearly died after stabbing the Witch-king with the Numenorian knife... oops that was "in another life."
