i agree about the gay thing. it seemed superfluous to the overall tapestry of the film (and that's one ass-ugly tapestry). but i think the braces were a nice tough, comical of course. and the irony at the end was heavy-handed, but also somewhat funny: now that he realizes that braces are no way to win love, he actually needs them. but don't get me wrong, i detest this film. i want to disagree about the minority comment: i think the black reporter was one of the only strong, positive characters in the film. she was intelligent and effectual, and saw through tom cruise's bullshit.
another question though: are we sure it is the little boy who shoots at the cop? the man who initially runs from the cop car is an adult. and it seems some people are suggesting the little boy murdered the white man. this isn't true, is it? it was "worm", right? and he never appeared in the film (unless he was that adult running away). last, when the cop enters the black woman's apartment, noises continue after he's entered. was the old man in the process of being murdered as the cop stood talking to the woman?
