02/16/00: One of those things that happens.

This film was one of those things that happens.

I was incredibly impressed by this film. It was very complete. Very mature, and I can think of few other pieces of art with such an ambitious narrative. I'm thinking of maybe Ulysses by James Joyce, or some of Nabakov's.

One day, many lives.

Think of it as an urban myth. All of the characters had something going on that was a catalyst in thier lives.

Frank Mackey is reunited with his father.

Earl dies.

Linda tries to kill herself.

Jim Curring finds love.

Donnie admits his life is a screw-up and admits his love.

A boy reveals the name of a killer.

A boy wets himself on television, and realizes the truth.

A game show host breaks down.

An extrodianary day for everyone. Would this day fade into the past? Would it just fade out as the rest of our days do? Of course not. There was a puctuation. One of those things that people talk about like a scuba-diver in a tree, or a boy unwittingly being shot while leaping into a net.

A rain.

A biblical rain of frogs that sets lips moving, and memories dividing into the "before this and after this."

It's one of those things that happens.
