Wulfgar010's internal log, entry 75329, continued:
There are members of The Community who would aid anyone, no matter how corrupt, evil, and immoral (like the Republicans, or the Libertarian Party), in order to further their own ends.
Richard and Zero had virtually e'en come to blows over the matter. Richard had been the subject of a plot by HairHead, involving clones of Richard.
Richard had killed at least one of the clones that he'd felt had been trying to usurp his life. He's been cornerd, and gone for a piece, and Richard had cold-bloodedly gunned him down.
My normally-undemostrative sib had gone over the edge into such a fury as I'd never seen in him, when Richard had angrilly stated "It's not like he was HUMAN; It was ONLY a clone".
I myself had felt as if I'd been struck across the face, and Zero, of all people, was so enraged that he grabbed Richard, and threw him across the room. He would have killed him, I think, had someone else not intervened.
That statement had cut pretty deeply; "if you prick us...?"...you can fill in the rest.
I'm only glad that Monica had not been there...she would have made her first blow a killing strike...I felt rather nostalgic at the thought; fewer were deadlier in hand-to-hand than my sister.
Philm Phan herself had a hand in her training-now, THAT woman could fight! I hoped that she and her partner were doing well in their own search.
We do feel quite real, to ourselves. I could see by their expressions that The Princess and Ivan both remembered the incident.
"All right, Lad, no need tae go rakin' open auld wuinds. Richard's a gude mon, at heart. He'll coome around, ye'll see..."
"I calculate the probability of that ocurrance at something in the vicinity of 756,221 to 1 against...and rising. Old Professors are comfortable within their prejudices" Zero said, in that infuriatingly bland voice that he affects.
I saw an angry flush building upon the rise of The Princess's cheeks.
"Enough of auld business; we have fresh causes aplenty; we need to know what HairHead has in mind, and how it fits, IF it fits, with the rest of what we've gathered."
The Princess nodded in assent, as did Ivan and Zero. Lady Eboshi kept her own council.
Zero began inputting information on the laptop that had belonged to Namagomi-Chan.
Gods, but the lass had made such bad choices in partners. I still cannot comprehend what flight of fancy had made her throw in with HairHead.
"We need to determine just what he meant by ‘all THREE of the passwords'; we have ‘Masardis', and ‘HairHead', but what others are there?"
Zero's question hung there, in the middle of the conundrum, awaiting an answer...
(To be continued...)
