08/04/04: From what I've read, this version actually makes more sense (Spoilers)

In the original, Janet Leigh approaches the obvious whack job Sinatra (sweaty, nervous, unable to light a cigarette) on a train and hits on him; later, when he is arrested and calls her -- she runs down to the police station to help him and leaves her fiance. Modern sensibilities kept me looking for a reason why she is taking these chances, but apparently she's just a freak.

As I understand this version, the woman who hooks up with Ben Marco (Sinatra then, Denzel now), actually is stalking him, more or less, as well as having some sort of excuse reason for approaching.

In the original, there seems to be no reason why Laurance Harvey wins the medal of honor -- it has nothing to do with his role as an assassination. In the modern version, it makes sense if the controlled individual is going to be a politician. You can argue it played some role in promoting the step father's career in the original, but that seems weak.

Of course, as pointed out by a number of movie reviewers, it seems like a lot of trouble to go to control a politician when you could do the same thing with money, and probably a lot less money then they had to spend on the mind control set up.
