...i'll post here.
my best friend and her boyfriend have just gone to the ski shop, which did not interest me at all, so i get to stay here with pete's computer! yippee! he's got this nifty mouse but one of those obnoxious keyboards that makes typing difficult (although i am sorta getting used to it)...
well, i leave california tomorrow... this has been an interesting trip, if not overwhelmingly exciting. i got to see San Francisco (although i didn't get to go to alcatraz because my best friend didn't want to go to a prison and her boyfriend is a total pushover. i took pictures of it from the dock, though)... SF is a beautiful city, very bright and colorful and clean looking, which surprised me. most big cities strike me as sort of grimy, but this one was all sparkly and bright. and i loved being right there on the ocean-- i love being near large bodies of water; all of my favorite places are port cities, it seems like.
and stanford is pretty neato. it's got a very laidback atmosphere, which i totally did not expect. but once i got here, i realized that getting stressed out on a campus as beautiful as this one would take some effort. it's easy to relax and just take everything in. and it's just so BEAUTIFUL. but there are certain things that seem distinctly stanford-ish to me: bike riders EVERYWHERE (no one walks here in palo alto), big words in casual conversations (which is a good thing, if you ask me-- but highly unusual), people running around in shorts and a sweatshirt (which is a look that i have never understood. if part of me is cold enough to need a sweatshirt, then the rest of me is probably cold enough to need pants).
anyway, this is totally a boredom post and is probably somewhat incoherent. i am sorta looking forward to being home because my best friend and her boyfriend can be a bit much-- and constant exposure to them over the course of 5 days is threatening to push me over the edge. of course, when i get home... well, i'll be bored off my ass for a week before i FINALLY get to go back to school for what promises to be my favorite semester so far.
-- and boy, am i ever ready for THAT --
