Let's face it, the Coens have never made a bad movie, nor a mediocre movie, nor even a merely "good" movie. Every one is so deeply layered they can be watched over and over and this also applies to "Lebowski". Anyone who has studied noir will pick up a zillion gags made at the genres expense.
Fuck, even the fact they consider it a "period piece" being set in 1991 is a pisser. If only they decided to direct a real porno and call it "Logjammin'"....
