I agree with this idea, however, think that if this is implimented into the final matrix movie (thank god), that it will just show how they are piecing the movie together from already used thematic ideas (ie: the thirteenth floor). You can obviously see that they alude to this idea numerous times within the movie as the architect explains about how they gave the members of the matrix "a choice" as to appeal to the chaotic nature of humanity. only the third movie will be able to tell, but that would at least show us why in the hell the sentinels were destroyed. the architect also could have been nothing more than a safeguard, a program inputted as a ruse/trap to neo as to make him think that by going through the other door means death to all connected to the matrix, as when he chose that path, nothing really happened. anyways, guess we have to wait for the next one.
