06/09/03: Re: I am at a complete loss to explain the love for this film... cos it's shit.

Thank heavens. Everyone I spoke to loved this steaming pile of pseudo-philosophic crud. I just don't have the time to explain why it is rotten, but a few things stick out. Like those awful 'ghost' things trying to deliver one-liners and failing.

The awkward Tomb-Raider type motions of Neo's CGI double in the Agent Smith x 100 fight scene.

What is the keymaker? What was/is his function?

Why doesn't the story flow, but is just a series of disjointed 'Be here at X' scenes?

The intelligence is gone, gone, gone. It's as if because the original never took off in cinemas, they've just left in the wide-appeal bits, but hyped up to the point of stupidity.

So people loved the fights - OK, extra fights. But we know Neo won't die, so where's the tension? The philosophy was interesting - extra philosophy, which becomes meaningless jabbering. Extra Agent Smith, quite literally. He acts everyone but the oracle off the screen, but just doesn't have much to do.

[If you ever want to see good actors fighting against a bad film, watch the Oracle and Agent Smith in this flick.]

I amused myself during this film (being utterly mind- numbed) by thinking about whom I'd rather get off with - Trinity or Neo. I think I decided on Trinity because she looks great in the black PVC outfit, and evidences some sort of personality/brains/sense/whatever.

Bloody hell, I *was* bored!
