11/12/03: I finally saw REVOLUTIONS (major spoilers)

Posted By: (MR_MUCUS)

Finally, fuck, it was yesterday, still in its first week...it's amazing how movies become old news so quickly.

Yeah, I'm too chicken shit to add to existing thread. Besides this forum is not the week's main forum.

Anyway.

The Good:

-The train station converstation with Neo and the East Indian couple (the only minority previously unrepresented in the Matrix movies??)

-Fetish club in the Matrix. THE MATRIX did a lot to mainstream fetish fashion and the S&M look. Here, they go all the way. Way to corrupt America's youth.

The So-So:

-Battle of Zion, yeah, it was video-game-ish. But enjoyable.

-Merovingian is back. So? really? So the hell what? I think his presence/role in the 2 sequels confused most people. On the plus side Monica Bellucci...<drools>

-Trainman. Why is he a scuzzy creep? Why was in there at all?

-Hovercraft crashes, but the EMP still works?

-Neo's vaguely explained powers over machines in the real world.

The Bad:

-Characters introed in RELOADED that I never cared about: The kid, Jada Pinkett, Link and his girlfriend. Feh.

-How can a hovercraft fly up into the sky?

-Why would you build exo-suits that leave the operators exposed to attack?

-Trinity's fate. Ye olde Hollywood death scene.

-Neo vs. Smith fight that drug on and on.

-The Oracle in Reloaded was seemingly just using humanity as part of the Matrix's system of control, here she's noble again. Wha?

-The Machine City looks like it uses more power just for lighting than the human batteries could produce. I think the joke is in the first film (not exact quote) "The machines uses the electricity from humans, along with a form of fusion..." If you had any type of fusion, human batteries would be irrelevant. Actual secret of the Matrix, the energy from humans is ONLY used to power lights. All other power comes from a big fusion reactor.

The Ugly:

-Zion's defenses include no EMP's. They only put them on their ships. Idiots.

-Neo and Trinity are worthless in the real world. They can't handle one guy possessed by Agent Smith?

-Neo is fucking idiot. He can't tell that Bane guy is Smith? Everyone else was an idiot for not locking that guy up since they suspect he had gone nuts or some shit. The future of humanity = fools.

-What was Smith's plan? To destroy man and machines? Did he even have any real "free will" in his action or had he merely become a program designed to oppose Neo?

-Unsatisfying end. How did Neo beat Smith? In fact, did he? Or was Neo just a vessel for the Architect?

-Larry Fishburne was looking fat and his complextion is terrible.

My Score: 6/10

Entertaining, but ultimately unsatisfying...and I wasn't a Matrix nut. It wasn't as bad as some have made it out to be. Certainly worth more than the one star that the Detriot Metro Times gave it, but that most of that rag's reviewers are movie snobs. They gave Matchstick Men 4 and 1/2 stars.
