The first one arrived some 9 months after its release. I don't get that at all. Even if they only made 4 or 5 prints, they could circulate the movie among major and medium-sized markets a lot faster than that. But I've noticed Miramax sucks really badly at distribution and promotion for even its major movies. For example, there was no good reason whatsoever to completely abandon a mediocre teen-oriented movie like "My Boss's Daughter." Ashton Kutcher was hot as hell at the time -- a little bit of MTV promotion and they could have made their money back fairly easily, but, NO. They also dump more movies in theaters without advanced screenings than any other studio. Yeah, they're usually bad, but not "Gigli"-bad and they screened that for critics! So I guess it shouldn't surprise me that they don't give a damn about their Project Greenlight movie beyond the TV show.
I don't think I'm going to enter the next PG contest. I doubt that I have a script both good enough and broadly- appealing enough to even place. I spend far too much time messing around with the next "Clockwork Oranges."
