10/12/01: Some good "family" pics:

In no particular order:

Wizard of Oz - Sure, its been around for ages, but its fun for little kids, musical lovers, and stoners alike...

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - Nothing says "family fun" like a whacked-out fantasy where annoying kids get theirs.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - In many ways, this is a better choice then Spielberg's other alien movie (E.T.) because its less sappy and has cooler-looking aliens.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Sure, its not as technically impressive as when it first came out, but its still fun to watch classic cartoon characters interact with humans (including the always gruff Bob Hoskins and the whacked-out Christopher Llyod) while doing a simplified film-noir.

The Neverending Story - Well-designed fantasy land (though some of the blue screens are downright fakey looking) combined with interesting story (one of the few films which actually promotes reading).

The Iron Giant - One of the few non Disney/Dreamworks American animated films which isn't just some cheapo ripoff of the Disney style, this is a suprizingly effective fable.

M_H (who's favorite film as a kid was The Terminator)
