10/15/01: High School daze...

Posted By: KSNewbie

I may not actually be old enough to partake in this poll, since I only graduated in '96, but I'll do it anyway. This forum needs some posts.

1) Were you a bully, nerdboy, loser, or invisible other in high school?

I was a nerdboy/loser. Not really invisible, since there were only about 400 students in the entire high school. Everyone knew everyone, and everyone knew everyone's role. I hated it, obviously, which brings us to...

2) Do you think that kids can be so mean as to justify going Columbine? Any sympathy for the picked on nerds that strike back?

Yeah, they can be mean, but like the others above have said, there's no justification for what happened at Columbine. I mean, striking back can be done in ways much more subtle than going AWOL in school. Kliebolt and Harris just weren't creative enough...*evil grin*

3) Did you love going to high school and the whole popularity contests, school spirit, having your voice crack, growing hair in strange places, and popping zits? Or did you cut classes and are just happy to have made it out of that hell hole alive and with some shred of sanity?

Eh, it was a phase, and I guess I'm as glad it happened there and then as I would be if it happened anywhere else. I mean, I was pretty happy when I was there, but it's not like I miss it.

4) So do you now understand why you had to learn Algerbra, history, and industrial arts? Aren't you using it everyday?

Sadly enough, yes. Well, not the industrial arts. I never took any industrial arts for a very good reason: I was dating the vo-ag teacher's daughter.

5) Name the best things about going to high school (significant events like losing your virginity etc.).

Getting good enough grades and sticking in there so that I could graduate from that and not ever have to go back to high school.

6) Any teachers/administators that you would have loved to see keel over and die?

Not really. Most of the teachers there were pretty cool. I wouldn't have minded seeing some minor pain inflicted on my Accounting teacher, but that's about it.

7) Ever have a crush on a teacher and/or an affair that you now feel safe in revealing?

Hells no. Most of the teachers there were in their 50s+.

8) Did you feel the need to act like a moron or did you take pride in being the first nerd to raise your hand to answer the tough questions?

I never had to raise my hand to answer a question. Everyone else in the classes I took was so stupid that the teacher knew I'd be the only one who knew the answers to the tough questions. (S)He'd ask a tough one, and then just look at me to answer. By the end of the year, everone else in the class would look at me to answer too. I swear, I may as well have been teaching.

9) Do anything that you regret in high school (like beat the crap out of kids or moon the janitor)?

Heh...try beat the crap out of the janitor. I swear, our janitor was picked on more than any of the kids in school. Things were done to him that really shouldn't be done to any adult figure in high school. I heard the other day that some seniors sprayed him with a fire extinguisher...

10) Have you gone to any reunions or do you plan to or are you just going to forget that high school ever happened until you can track down the people you hated and gut them like fish?

Nah, I really don't have plans to go to reunions. Matter of fact, the sooner I'm out of Kansas, the better. And I am not coming back.
