Acknowledge Cameron Crowe for coming up with the idea?
I've not yet seen Crowe's Singles, which came out in 1992, but it is in my NetFlix queue. The description of Singles sounds just like friends except Singles is set in Seattle. Seattle is famous for coffee and coffee houses and the second most used set on friends is the Central Perk coffee house. I once read, but damned if I can remember where, that Crowe was approached about doing a Singles series but turned the network down. As Paddy Chayefski said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of television." Who knows? Maybe next, NBC will come up with a series about a young rock writer barely of high-school age, that tours with a band called Rapidwater.
