> 1. Do you make them? Why?
Not usually. In general, the things that I want to do to improve myself are either already happening or simply won't because there's some good reason I can't do them. New Year's Resolutions are too much like self-gratifying bullshit for my taste. For most people they're wishful thinking and good intentions that are never followed through. Most people use them to pacify a guilty conscience - that deserves to be guilty. Feel good politics on a personal level, if you will.
> 2. Have you made one which, in hindsight, was a very bad idea?
Having almost never enaged in making NYR, I have been lucky enough to avoid bad ones.
> 3. Have you ever been able to stick to one that had large consequences? eg. lose weight, quit smoking, etc.
I've never made NYR of those sort, but if I did I'm sure I'd fail at least once in a while.
