In the midst of the Asian tsunami disaster, we have a bit of great news. Oh, there is no relationship between the tsunami and this. But one would suggest there is an eventaual relationship.

This is a translated link from France. A quick summary: the French eggheads just created a process of creating a lot more blood from stem cells. A lot more blood than donations alone. Plus this would solve an unusual condition of a recipient rejecting donor blood.
And some ultra-right wing Repubbies wonder why California just voted for stem cell research support...
I am rather excited by this. This may be one of many proofs that the French just may be as smart and capable as some of us suspect.
