I had heard that the new version of CHiPs will have new leads, I don't believe Erik Estrada will be in it.
When Erik Estrada was on Chips he had a reputation of being difficult to work with. He was often abusive to co-stars, especially women. There are many actors with modest talents who continue to work because they are team players who show up for work, take direction etc. Suzanne Somers' career was sidetracked for years by her reputation as a trouble maker on Threes Company. Brett Butler and Michael Moriarity will have a very hard time ever getting another TV role.
