Because John Smith does go back to England leaving her behind at the end----due to an injury----which IS what happened in real life. Funny. I liked that movie because of that ending---I have some friends who hate that movie because "the ending is sooooo sad. Boo hoo!!!!! They don't stay together and live happily ever after???? I wish I was dead!!!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Ricky, why can't I be in the show?!!!!"
