07/21/1998: Why the "Mulan" doll is all wrong

Posted By: syliastingray

The character designers for "Mulan" were horrified when they learned that Mattell was plannning to use their "Barbie" doll as the model for the Mulan doll. They pleaded with Mattell to create a doll body that corresponded to the measurements of a real-life young girl. Mattell compromised by using "Midge" as the model for Mulan. Will Mattell ever create a doll body with the correct proportions of a woman, and not some anorexic silicone fantasy?

"Not bloody likely...unless they're selling snowshoes in Hell right about now." --Max, from "Sam and Max"
