Some near east experts think that if Saddam is captured or killed by the USA things will actually get worse in Iraq. The Bush administration has been saying the opposite. They think the only thing they have to worry about in Iraq is Saddam's fighters.
The other possibility is that other Iraqi's opposed to the US occupation are not shooting at US soldiers now because they don't want to be linked with Saddam. If Saddam were killed it is possible that all hell will break out and the various ethic groups will no longer be restrained. They will start shooting at each other and at US soldiers.
The Neo-Conservatives who pushed for the invasion of Iraq have planned for none of this. They really have no plan.
God help our troops in Iraq.
