National Treasure (review #2) Mr. Cranky's rating:
Toady says: You're not missing much. President Lincoln's been shot! Sic semper tyrannis! Conspiracy theorists of the world unite. My secret diary... there are pages missing. Secret? What do you mean secret? There is more in the diary than just the map. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it. Well, I meant it, but I was so stupid... After all, it's only a diary. Everyone knows diaries are just... full of crap. Secret of this case harder to determine than alley cat's grandfather. It's no big secret. Most of the cast and crew knew about it. Dirty dealings, like buying stolen car parts, never stay secret for long. The Warren Commission thought they had an open-and-shut case. Three bullets, one assassin. Does that look like a conspiracy to you? You're not missing much. --Toady Note from Mr. Cranky: Toady's timely review allows me to play shill for the new 2-disc DVD release of "National Treasure". This is one of those DVDs released to coincide with the release of the sequel, so I don't exactly know why having a 2-disc version of this film is better than a one-disc version, but if I suppose you're the type of person who owns a one-disc version, you might want a 2-disc version. And if you don't own the first version, there's probably no reason to buy it instead of this new version. And if you just hate the first movie and the second movie, I would recommend not buying either.
Was it really that bad?
