The reason that the Bible is so incoherent is that it was writeen by several different authors over a period of several centuries, with added chapters, fixed translations, and rewrites occuring often. For instance, the second book of Kings was written nearly a century after the first book was written. Genesis mentions two different accounts of how humanity was created, one in which both Adam and Eve were created together, and one in which Eve was created after Adam. Scholars have now determined the Book of Daniel to be fictitious. Nowhere in the Bible does it give sexual perversion as a reason for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. The two cities most likely suffered God's wrath because they were inhospitable to travelers. This may look like a trivial reason to utterly destroy one city, let alone two, but in Biblical times, travellers on the road literally feared for their lives, owing to bandits, sandstorms, rough terrain, wars, etc. Finding a safe place to stay was of paramount importance to travellers, trader, and pilgrims. The Bible is a good guide to conduct, but a faulty historical account.
