You would have been completely justified in repeating that old quote, trust me. At times, my earnest hopefulness gets the better of me. I am learning. It's a shame, though, that what you "learn" is that the world is an awfully fucked-up place with a lot of cruel, stupid people. Somehow, though, I have managed to avoid falling into complete cynicism. It seems my inherent nature to be eternally idealistic. Idealistic or stupid, take your pick.
