1. It takes no longer than some of the other finishing moves to set up, esp. any that involve coming off the top rope.
Well, maybe, but while setting up the piledriver its obvious that the piledrivee (is that a word?) is actually going along with the piledriverer(?) so that he can set up the move. I don't care how strong you are -- it would be very tough to take 300 pounds of dead weight and set it up like that in such a short amount of time, unless said dead weight was helping you out.
2. It looks no more gay than when a guy picks up another guy and puts his hand near the crotch when picking him up..I agree with your point, though. Also, HHH's Pedigree (with the guy's head between his legs) looks extremely homo.
I think I may know what that Pedigree thing is. If I'm thinking of the right thing, then you're right -- that looks even worse. But grabbing a guy's groin and then slamming him to the ground doesn't have nearly as much of a homosexual overtone as stuffing his face in your crotch does, IMO.
3. It doesn't look as bad as the Rock Bottom (how is that supposed to hurt, anyways? Both guys are being driven into the mat!) or the Pedigree.
I don't know what the Rock Bottom is, so I'll take your word for it. But you're right, a lot of those moves sure are stupid looking. A lot of the time I can't tell who is supposed to be getting hurt until one stands up and the other is writhing on the ground, grabbing his back and grimacing in pain.
I have seen that 'super elbow' or whatever it is the Rock does, and that is just plain stupid looking. But I still think the piledriver is as silly as anything else those guys do.
