I am rather concerned about a matter which, well, it’s a bit embarrassing. It is about your sister. She seems to be rather taken by this Sidney fellow. Yes, I know that he is a rather dashing sort, square jaw, gleam in the eyes and all that. That is what I am concerned with. Gwendolen does seem to be rather susceptible to the chaps like that, who apparently live a bit of a mysterious and exciting lifestyle. Not that I am not handsome! I did not mean to imply that. And, Dada IS exciting. On the cusp of the anti-art movement. I guess we ALL can’t be running around, spying on this person or that person, getting mysterious letters from unknown parties. Well, come to think of it, we did just that on the train, didn’t we? Much overstated as a lifestyle, is my only comment. Much to hard on the nervous system for my tastes, not to mention the knees. But, do you think that you could feel her out, and find out exactly what her intentions are in this regard? Well, yes, I am fully aware that we are engaged. That is why I am interested in knowing, you blithering idiot! That is why I want you to ask her! Me? Well, I, ah.... I am not sure that I know how to talk to a woman of such a strong temperament. She sometimes does not seem to listening to me. When we are married, that will all change, however. I am sure of it.
Say, do you know who those two rather shady men are over in the corner there? They seem to be watching us very closely, and trying to eavesdrop on our conversation. Whatever might they be wanting? It is like they think we are spies or some such nonsense. Just because we have been seen in the company of Mr. Reilly does not mean.... Ah.... Henry, are you thinking what I am thinking?
Where *did* our armed guardian get to? I would feel much better if he, and his firearm, were around.
