11/04/1998: It is bloody cold out here....

Why on earth did Henry insist that I stay out here? As a guard? A guard from whom? And, what would I possibly do if someone were to come? Ask if they have an invitation and wish them a jolly time? This is lunacy. Henry of the Consulate at his finest. Always perform your tasks that you set for yourself with aplomb and vigor, even if they are accompanied by no appreciable plan. That's our boy. If the rest of the chaps in Whitehall are anything like our Mr. Carr, then the outcome of the war is guaranteed. And not to their liking, I am sure.

My, it is cold out. Where is Henry? I do hope that Gwendolen and Miss Carruthers made it back to the hotel with no problems. I will have that Sergeant's stripes if anything happened to either of them. Wait, what is that noise? I hear voices? And.... if I am not mistaken, one of them sounds like Doris! What is he doing here? Accompanied by that Goldman woman, if I am not mistaken. Perhaps she has kidnapped him! I must hide, so that they won't see me.

What shall I do? Oh, my. I do wish Gwendolen were here.
