04/19/96: Re: Whine all you want... does anybody really remember what the 60s were like?

Oliver Stone is one of the most continually underrated directors of our time, fellas. Politics have very little to do with anything. Last I heard, movies (even ones that try to make statements) were about art (second only to profit, of course), not squabbling over details. If you'd been paying attention, you'd know that Stone's movies aren't political, they're personal. Nixon, JFK, The Doors, Platoon... they're all Stone's version of the 1960s. As far as I'm concerned, he has just as much right to his memories as any of us do, and if somebody wants to pay him to make movies about them, so be it. Sure he's paranoid, but if you aren't paranoid, then you haven't been paying attention.
