Stone's "footnotes" are a farrago of bad sources, miscited sources, outright lies, and -- on the points where he's most vulnerable, as with the famed "18.5-minute gap" scenes in which Nixon explains to Haldeman his (fictitious) role in the Bay of Pigs invasion and the attempts to assassinate Castro -- admissions that he has no proof coupled with insistent repetitions that "this is the way it MUST have been."
This film is an offense to the writing of history. And I say this as a life-long political adversary of Richard Milhous Unindicted.
