As a published historian, I have selfish reasons for agreeing with you about wishing that more people read history.
I also agree with you about Oliver Stone. It's really a shame. I think that MAD TV did a parody once in which Stone made GEORGE WASHINGTON; it was screamingly funny, marred only by my realization that the reality would probably outdo the parody.
