As a public service to all who really do want to understand that Watergate was NOT some isolated mistake that Nixon made at the end of his Presidency but the cumulative product of themes and attitudes and practices that were present ten seconds after he took his first Presidential oath of office in 1969, I present an Internet guide to Nixon and Watergate.
The Village Voice has listed four Watergate-related Web sites:
1. http://www.tezcat.com/~nm/nixon/
This one is just a way to connect to various Nixon and Watergate websites.
2. netspace.net.au/~malcolm/wgate.htm
This is a superb Australian Website dealing with Watergate and the fall of Richard Nixon.
3. www.webcorp.com/sounds/nixon.htm
This website supposedly has audio clips from the notorious White House tapes, but I couldn't access it; maybe this is an out-of-date listing, or maybe the VOICE got its citation wrong.
4. www.chapman.edu/nixon
This is the promotional website for the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace. What more need I say than that?
So -- go check out the fine Australian website dealing with Watergate, and remember ... tape doors along the edge, and not so that the tape shows near the knob, and for God's sake erase those tapes and shred those papers.
