A big difference between clinton and nixon is that Nixon denied wrong doing and Clinton smiles with the attitude-- "Yeah, I did it. So What?"
Nixon's problem was so much that he got caught. Its our weird attitude of the publics that they felt Nixon tried to insult their intelligence while he was lying to them. Clinton is upfront--he smiles knowingly and denies. We see through Clinton and oddly enough, we can respect his transparant (I know that you know that I know) lies more than the hyprocrites who pretend to be clean and are not.
For example, Look at the guy who killed Pauli Claus. The public only got in an uproar when he flipped off the camera in court. We were more upset about his arrogance than his act of murder. He offended our sensibilities.
Go figure.
