"What I care about is respect, practicality and self- control."
"Respect?" You don't seem to have any respect for other people's property rights. If a private landowner wants to build housing on his own land, you think the government should prevent him from doing that.
Of course, it's OK for you to have a house.
You just don't want other people to have a house.
You love these kinds of government restrictions on people's lives, because it gives you a chance to talk about how much you supposedly care about the enviornment, but you don't have to pay the financial costs. Instead, you get to shift the cost on to the people who own the land.
There are private charities like the Nature Conservancy that use their own money to buy land to prevent it from being developed, but you haven't said anything to indicate that you prefer that kind of approach.
It's a lot easier for you to express your love of the envioronment by your willingness to spend other poeple's money, and your willingness to shift the costs on to other people.
"Self control?" It seems to me that what you want is government control, not self control. That's why you favor government restrictions that destroy property rights.
"Practicality?" Your opposition to capitalism, economic growth, and technology is not "practical." Supporting a third world lifestyle is not what I would consider "practical."
You also think that there are too many people in the world.
Over the past million years, the number of people on earth has increased from zero to about 6.2 billion.
In your opinion, at what population size did the earth first become overpopulated? And what are your reasons for stating this particular number?
