Hitchcock's bizarre and alarming fixations on tall, blonde actresses are chronicled in the fine biography by Donald Spoto, THE DARK SIDE OF GENIUS, and in his critical study, THE ART OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK. These tales are pretty bad, and apparently are all too true. Tippi Hedren went through hell with Hitchcock in filming both THE BIRDS and MARNIE.
