Hitchcock's most frequent scenarist was his wife, Alma Reville. She wrote, co-wrote, adapted, and worked on the stories of many of his films. Read the credits and you will get a partial idea of her contribution to the Hitchcock oeuvre. He said he owed a lot to her ability to recognize a good story from another medium which would do well under his hand. And remember that script-doctoring and rewrites are often not credited.
