I've said this a few times before, so apologies to all you veteran Crankylanders.
The four essentials of good cinema are 1) Elements of mystery; 2) Martial arts; 3) Chase scenes; and 4) Things blowing up.
Spider-Man 2 had all four. How many of those elements does The Notebook have? If I'm going to drag my ass into a love story, it will probably be Before Sunset. I might see The Notebook when it comes out on DVD as I'm a NetFlix subscriber. Note that my favorite movies are 1)A Clockwork Orange; 2) Diehard; 3) Terminator; 4) Fight Club; and 5) The Parent Trap (1998). Yeah, I don't know how the heck that last one snuck in there.
