Greetings all...
I personally saw Spider-Man 2 at 10:30 a.m. yesterday/Wednesday. But my day was just beginning, so I never had time to post my review.
My numbers: 7.5/10 (may go up to 8.0/10 with captions/subtitles on DVD), 4 menacing tenacles with 'eyes', one set up ending, one concluding ending, one bridging ending, one exploding new energy source, one sucking new energy source, quite a few flying cars and car parts (much better than ID4 or any other flicks for that matter), one on-off relationship (a love story just for Crystal), one or two building crawl/brawl(s), one big subway fight and one appearance by the one and only Bruce Campbell.
For once, Dr. Octopus more or less matched his appearance in comic books. Doc Ock was one of very, very, very few portly bad guys in comic books. The movie version also carried a spare tire.
Green Goblin was simply a technocrat's dream in the first Spider-Man, otherwise the Green Goblin character matched the back story and motivation. The only thing about Doc Ock is that I am not exactly familiar with his origins, so I really cannot say, but I caught his other comic book appearances - image an overweight schlub pulverizing a sleek and trim superhero into pavement. So Doc Ock was quite cool.
In short, a nice and workable sequel, even with dialogue for long stretches of time.
