I reluctantly watched "Six Degrees of Separation" a while back. I was under the mistaken opinion that the movie was a "chick flick," or something of that caliber, anyway. Finally, due to boredom, I gave in and watched it. Will Smith gave an amazing performance. For those of you who think he's a "character actor," or just another one of those "flash in the pan black guys" who can't really act that well but is popular due to looks or slight humorous ability, please rent "Six Degrees of Separation." It's his best acting performance to date. It's serious. It's sad. And, in the end, you not only can't believe it was Will Smith....but you feel very, very sorry for him.
