This is a very white, middle-class thing. The damage is really 'social' for boys, with parents up in arms, the teachers under suspicion and so on. It isn't physical and its only psychological because society doesn't accept it.
There is no equality at the level of bodies. If it had been the other way round, five girls and one adult male teacher, it would have been far more serious. Only men can rape, only females get pregnant. There would likely have been pain involved too, if the girls were virgins.
Nor could these teens have had full intercourse without being aroused. The same does not apply to girls. At least she was charged with sexual misconduct and not rape - that's when things really start getting surreal.
This is an abuse of trust, a violation of parental and social trust in teachers. What it isn't, is rape. The only people who could have raped in this equation are the teen males, not the teacher.
